Abstract: The purposes of this study were to investigate the current situations and problems surrounding the Korea sport diplomacy and to search for the advanced strategies of sport diplomacy by proposing new conceptual and developmental model for pursuing sustainable development of sport diplomacy. A total of seven experts from the Korean Government, nongovernmental organizations and individuals currently involved in the sport diplomacy related areas were recruited and interviewed for the subject of the development of sport diplomacy. The methods used to collect data were document and content analyses and in-depth interviews. The data was analyzed through inductive categorical analysis from which concepts, problems, and new ideas of sport diplomacy were derived. The perceived concepts, problems, and development strategies of sport diplomacy are drawn from the analyses. Based on the results, ‘GET (Greatness in Game, Expertise in Event, Togetherness in Trust)’ model that represents a unique domestic characteristic of Korean sport diplomacy and also concurs with the international atmosphere of sport mediated assistance was presented.
