Josh Ehrlich

Josh Ehrlich is a clinician-scientist trained in clinical ophthalmology and epidemiological research. He sees patients at the Kellogg Eye Center, conducts research at the Kellogg Eye Center and the Institute for Social Research at University of Michigan, and serves as a Visting Scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). His research is interdisciplinary, drawing on epidemiology, demography, health services research, and clinical insights. A primary interest is on the influence of vision and multisensory impairments on cognitive, psychosocial, and physical health in older adults globally. He is a Co-Principal Investigator of the Longitudinal Study of Health and Aging in Kenya (LOSHAK), which will ultimately be one of the first population-represenattive studies of health, economics, and aging in Sub-Saharan Africa. This study is conducted in collaboration with Aga Khan University, Nairobi and is funded by the National Institute on Aging and the University of Michigan Center for Global Health Equity. He is also a co-investigator of several other popuation based studies, inclduing the National Health and Aging Trends Study and the Diagnostic Assessment of Dementia for the Longitudinal Aging Study in India. Other collaboration in Africa are focused on ophthalmic epidemiology, research collaborations, capacity building, and systems strengthening.
