The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS) provides opportunities for students to pursue pressing questions related to Latin America and the Caribbean through classroom instruction, research, and study abroad.
LACS offers broad-based major and minor programs for undergraduates, as well as a certificate program for graduate students.
By placing region-specific study of Latin America and the Caribbean in a global context, LACS stimulates rigorous and innovative scholarship that fosters global citizenship.
LACS administers a number of fellowships and grants for undergraduate and graduate students. These include: Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships; Tinker Field Research Grants; the Boyce Family Caribbean Studies Grant; and the Gutierrez Dissertation Award.
