Professor Yasmin Moll Named a 2021 Fellow of the Luce/ACLS Program in Religion, Journalism & International Affairs

Congratulations to one of our faculty affiliates, Yasmin Moll, Assistant Professor of Anthropology, for receiving the Luce/ACLS Fellowship for her project "The Revolution Within: Islamic Media and the Struggle for the New Egypt."

Meet the faces behind the Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies Seminar (IISS)

Kamal Gasimov, Samet Budak, and Wissam Iman Nuwayhid. Kamal, Samet, and Wissam have been IISS coordinators since 2020 and will be continuing their roles through 2021-2022.

The University of Michigan has extraordinary depth in scholarship and instruction dealing with Islam as a world religion and the study of Muslim peoples and societies. Over 50 faculty members from a wide array of departments and professional schools are currently engaged in work related to these topics. The study of Islam and Muslim societies at U-M is not confined to a few highly specialized departments, but is part of the University's mainstream.  Read more.
