The Center for European Studies (CES) is pleased to present a series of events for Fall 2019 in coordination with partners including the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies; Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies; History Department; German Department; and Michigan Quarterly Review. Two Conversations on Europe events will be presented, including a roundtable discussion on Brexit that will immediately follow the planned British departure from the European Union, and a lecture on the current state and legacy of the Yellow Vest movement in France.

Along with partner centers in the Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia, CES is sponsoring a 2019-20 series focused on environmental issues facing the region, including changing patterns of consumption and the increasing production of waste in postcommunist Eastern Europe, eco-mafias in Italy, the politics of ecological disasters, and the effects of climate change on indigenous populations of Northern Europe.
