Sara Abou Rashed is a Palestinian American poet and public speaker coming to Ann Arbor from Columbus, Ohio. She has delivered a TEDx talk and keynoted at numerous universities and conferences across the US on the power of storytelling to bridge communities. Her poems appear in over ten publications, including a high school language arts curriculum by McGraw-Hill and POETRY Magazine. A Pushcart nominee, Sara was also was named a national Beinecke Scholar.
In 2018, Sara wrote and widely performed her autobiographical one-woman show titled, A Map of Myself: My Odyssey to America, about her family's most recent displacement from Syria. Be it a poem, a nonfiction essay or theatrical storytelling, Sara’s works are rooted in conversations about history, exile, war, immigration, intimacy, personal and collective memory and identity.
