Position Description:

Interns will work on the premises of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, in the office of the culture.pl project, a website promoting Polish culture abroad.

Content Interns will work for Culture.pl’s English section. Join a dynamic editorial team that will make use of your strengths and interests to develop your online writing & promotion skills. Tasks include:

  • Writing & publishing articles
  • Social media management

Desired Qualifications:

Interns should be passionate about history, Polish culture, and confident about their English writing abilities.

Podcast Intern

Join the Stories From The Eastern West team and contribute to the creation of an immersive, narrative podcast that reveals untold histories from Central and Eastern Europe.

Tasks include:

  • Researching stories

Desired Qualifications:

Galicia Jewish Museum

Location: Krakow

Organization Description: The Galicia Jewish Museum exists to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and celebrate the Jewish culture of Polish Galicia, presenting Jewish history from a new perspective. An innovative and unique institution located in Kazimierz, the Jewish district of Kraków, Poland, the Museum is a registered charity in Poland. The objectives of the Museum are to challenge the stereotypes and misconceptions typically associated with the Jewish past in Poland and to educate both Poles and Jews about their own histories, whilst encouraging them to think about the future. website

Education Department Intern

Position Description: The Museum Education Department internship programme offers in-depth insight into the workings of a growing and dynamic organisation. Interns are fully immersed in the everyday workings of the Museum. This allows them to gain practical experience in a thriving cultural institution whilst focusing on the preservation of Jewish and Holocaust memory in both a Polish and international context. The exact structure of each individual internship programme is agreed in advance between the Museum and the intern and varies depending on the time of year that the internship will take place as well as the skills and qualifications of the intern.

Desired Qualifications: Interns should be enrolled in, or recently graduated from, an undergraduate or postgraduate university programme in a relevant subject (such as Jewish or religious studies, Holocaust and genocide studies, history, anthropology, social sciences, tourism or cultural management), or be able to demonstrate significant interest in the field. All applicants for the internship programme should be able to demonstrate a commitment to the work and mission of the Galicia Jewish Museum.

Language Requirements: English only. Polish, German, or French may be helpful.

Internship Dates: If offered the position, interns and their supervisor will decide on specific internship dates between June 1st and August 15th for a minimum of 8 weeks. Interns will work approximately 30-35 hours/week.

Additional Information: Galicia Jewish Museum will provide logistical support where appropriate, including letters of invitation for visa applications if required.

POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews

Education Department Intern

Responsibilities:

  • Proofreading and making English-language materials to be used in educational workshops for schoolchildren (i.e. use oral history testimonies to make educational videos)
  • Assisting with workshop design and preparation
  • Writing and distributing promotional materials
  • Supporting workshops - applicant may lead workshop if qualified

Compensation:

  • Unpaid
  • POLIN will assist with finding housing upon request from the student intern.

Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission

Assistant to Programs Officers and EdUSA Manager

Position Description: Interns will assist the Programs Officers and EdUSA Manager with administrative work tied to the academic programs, including:

  • Assist the Executive Director with administrative work tied to academic exchange programs between Poland and the US
  • Serve as an important source on higher education in the US by advising incoming and prospective grantees from Poland interested in doing a Fulbright in the US and assisting with pre-departure orientation
  • Coordinate the organization and logistics of the Commission's advising center
  • Assist in proofreading grant and legal documents
  • Update and maintain databases of contacts and grantees
  • Promote the Fulbright Commission using various social media platforms
  • Perform statistical analyses on academic and financial sources to help develop federal grant proposals
  • Gain unique insights into how public diplomacy is furthered through higher education

Desired Qualifications:

Interns should have excellent communication and writing skills, as well as a strong interest in Central Europe, international relations, or diplomacy. An ideal intern should be equipped with IT skills, project management skills, and the ability to work as part of a small team. It is also helpful for interns to have a good understanding of US high schools and universities.

Communications and Events Internship

Position Title: Communications and Events Internship

Location: Zakopane, Poland

Position Description:

The intern should have strong interest in cultural heritage issues. He/she will take part in preparing and introducing events and exhibitions as well as working with the public. He/she will be involved in all activities concerning communicating on behalf of the museum, to the media and to the public, and will also have the opportunity to conduct his/her own project in the field.

The intern will:

  • Prepare, schedule and post content in various channels
