Anna Grzymala-Busse, Michelle and Kevin Douglas Professor of International Studies at Stanford University, presented a WCED lecture on October 19 on the topic "Populism and the Erosion of Democracy." Grzymala-Busse is the former director of the Weiser Center for Emerging Democracies and Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia. Her lecture focused on the rise in populism in formerly communist countries, citing specific examples from Poland and Hungary.
