Anil Menon

Anil Menon, a PhD candidate in political science and recent recipient of a WCED Graduate Student Research Grant, co-authored an article with Nolan M. Kavanagh, a U-M lecturer. The article, "No, the pandemic didn’t sink populism. It might have helped it," appeared in The Washington Post's Monkey Cage column. Menon and Kavanagh looked at 20 years of survey data to hypothesize that European voters in poor health were more likely to support right-wing populists.

Menon joined Pauline Jones, professor of political science, to give a WCED lecture in March on populism. Video of the event, "Varieties of Populists: Paths to Power and Implications for Regime Stability," is available on the WCED YouTube channel.
