Adam E. Casey

Adam E. Casey, WCED postdoctoral fellow, co-authored an article with Seva Gunitsky in Foreign Affairs, titled "The Bully in the Bubble: Putin and the Perils of Information Isolation." The authors argue that Putin's personalist leadership could be a liability as Russia considers policy generally, and determines next steps in the escalating tensions with Ukraine and the West, writing, "The future of Ukraine may hinge on a man ensconced in a bubble that both feeds his aggression and shields him from its consequences."

Casey is a 2021-23 WCED Postdoctoral Fellow. His research broadly considers the relationship between external intervention and domestic politics in nondemocracies. Casey received his doctorate in political science from the University of Toronto in 2020 and was a 2020-21 WCED Research Fellow.
