Alena Aniskiewicz writing for culture.pl
During summer 2017, the Copernicus Center for Polish Studies has funded a number of students who are pursuing research and internships in Poland. One of those students, Alena Aniskiewicz, has written several stories for the website culture.pl, including:
- ‘HollyŁódź’: A Film Lover’s Guide to Poland’s Most Cinematic City
- Legacies Set in Stone: Statues of Poland's Heroes Around the World
- Intimations: The Cinema of Wojciech Has – Annette Insdorf
Alena Aniskiewicz is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Focusing on 20th-century Poland, she is interested in the ways in which literary history and cultural heritage are maintained and manufactured in contemporary popular culture. She is currently working on a project that explores the relationship between Polish hip-hop and the nation’s poetic tradition. Her writing on Polish culture and heritage has recently appeared in Cosmopolitan Review, culture.pl, and Mercurian: A Theatrical Translation Review.
