“My State Department internship at the U.S. Consulate General in Barcelona, Spain, was the perfect experience to link my International Studies major to real world experience. As the consular intern, I was primarily involved with American Citizen Services, such as emergency passport replacements. I was also able to work on a couple of special visits. I acted as a translator for Secret Service agents and members of the press for President Obama's visit to the Rota Naval Base in southern Spain. I also helped to facilitate a safety presentation for the 2016 NCAA Champion Villanova men's basketball team. Finally, I was an official notetaker for a roundtable discussion between Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (pictured), and former Justice John Paul Stevens and members of the Catalan legal community, which took place at the Consulate. My time working at the Consulate was the ideal opportunity to see how my studies of foreign relations are reflected in real-life diplomacy.”

Future plans: I would like to go abroad again and eventually attend law school.
