“When I started school 4 years ago, I had no idea what I wanted to study, but after taking International Studies 101 I knew it was the perfect major for me. I was able to combine my interests in economics, world politics, and Spanish and take such a wide variety of classes. The classes I’ve taken in the Program in International and Comparative Studies (PICS) have given me such a breadth of knowledge from global health to world politics to international trade.
My favorite PICS memory was studying abroad in Madrid with other PICS students I’ve met over the years! I was able to take classes in European politics, architecture, film and more. We also had a Spanish student who helped us immerse ourselves in life in Madrid and showed us what it’s like to be a college student in Europe! I even got to intern at a start-up in Madrid and learned not only how to start a business and work internationally, but I also got to use my language skills in meetings with real estate agents, marketing teams, and other interns!
This experience helped shape my career plans as I now plan to move to New York City after graduation to work at a consulting firm where I’ll get to work with clients all over the world. I will never forget the experiences I’ve had as an International Studies major!”
