Dear International Studies Students,

Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope your break was refreshing and that your semester has started smoothly.

The first bit of big news is that the Center for International and Comparative Studies (CICS) is now the Program in International & Comparative Studies (PICS). The change in our name is meant to reflect the fact that the large (and growing) undergraduate program that you are a part of is really what we are all about. So, here’s to you!

The second bit of big news is that Natasa Gruden-Alajbegovic has come on board to take responsibility for the day to day management of the program. Natasa has been working for the University for a decade and brings a wealth of experience and a wide range of interests to her new position. We are also excited to announce that Sarah Jadrich will be working full time to help with student advising this semester. You can make an appointment with her, Professor Uehling, or Folake Graves by clicking here or on the link on our program’s advising webpage.

Of course, you are also free to come see me with any questions you may have about the program. My office hours this semester will be held on Tuesdays, 10 am-12 pm, and Thursdays, 11 am -12 pm, in room 2660B in the School of Social Work Building (i.e. in the main suite of the International Institute).

Information on events, funding opportunities and other programs can be found also on our brand new Facebook page.

Here’s to an exciting and edifying semester!

Regards,

William Clark, Director
Program in International and Comparative Studies
