“My U-M International Studies major, specifically the CCI sub-plan, showed me the universality of storytelling. In every culture, we tell stories. Whether the story is being told to impart a lesson, to entertain, to enlighten, or any other combination of reasons, the story exists to build generational knowledge and carry on traditions. As a playwright, I am always thinking about stories, what they do for us, and what we do for them. At the end of the day, I believe stories are our best tool for crossing cultural divides. When we encounter someone else's story, we practice empathy and create better worlds for everyone. The CCI sub-plan was instrumental to setting me on this path as a writer.”
