“The international studies major was instrumental in how I shaped my post-graduation plans in both the practical and academic pathways. At the academic level, PICS showed me the value of an education that takes a comparative, global approach to the world's unique identities and problems; something I have greatly focused on when creating a list of spaces where I wish to pursue a degree in law. The level of comprehension and curiosity the PICS department promotes clearly reshaped my view of what a successful program should look like for the future. At the practical level, it has made developing international and cultural competency a priority for these next few years. As a result, I am utilizing the skills I learned within PICS to embark on a journey to teach in a foreign country. In the end, I owe my curiosity and willingness to engage with the world around me to the formative years I had while at PICS.”
