Graduate students from the University of Michigan and the University of Puerto Rico, working from any discipline, methodologies, or perspective, in any part of the world or historical contexts, will present on topics concerning political tensions, questions of identity, and globalization.

The symposium aims to create a space in which graduate students from both universities can share the innovative ways of studying these concepts, as well as the intersections with other categories and topics. Among them, but not excluding others, are the intersections with civil and human rights, political traditions, migration, identity politics, religion, political participation, public education, memory, gender, race, sexuality, neoliberalism, nationalism, and cultural policies.
