The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS) together with the Brazil Initiative at LACS feature presenters from diverse disciplines. LACS organizes and sponsors more than 50 public lectures, workshops, performances, and conferences over the course of the academic year. 

In addition to our yearly programming, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS) and the Brazil Initiative at LACS are happy to consider funding requests to co-sponsor lectures, events, performances,  and activities that coincide with the center's mission to promote a broad and deep understanding of the region. Climate Change & Health Equity: Reducing Risk & Promoting Resilience

This year's summer institute will explore the intersection of research, practice and advocacy in climate change and health equity, in local and global contexts. By joining the UMSN Global Health Summer Institute, you will:

- Expand your perspective through interdisciplinary and intercultural keynotes
- Access real-time Spanish interpretation on Day 2 of the conference!
- Personalize your experience with breakout sessions focused on clinical practice or research and policy
- Gain skills in program development, evaluation, and advocacy
- Share your work/learn about innovative ideas through flash presentations
- Network with practitioners, researchers, and professionals across the globe
- Earn up to 7.0 Nursing Contact hours for Nursing Continuing Profession Development Credits*
- Receive a University of Michigan School of Nursing Certificate of Attendance

Schedule

Each day will have a one-hour keynote speaker followed by interactive breakout sessions, concluding with flash presentations. The conference will open Day 2 with a PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center Panel. This panel is free to attend and is included for all registrants. The conference will take place on Zoom on the following dates and times (Eastern Daylight Time/UTC -4):
