We hope this message finds you and yours safe, healthy, and well. Our three centers want to welcome you back for an exciting new academic year.

In case you’re wondering, we are a new consortium of centers at U-M covering three overlapping but distinct domains of knowledge and geography: CMENAS is dedicated to promoting a broader and deeper understanding of the Middle East and North Africa -- its histories, cultures, languages, and peoples -- through research, education, and teacher training programs. DISC coordinates a Big Ten network of programs pioneering interdisciplinary Islamic Studies courses, delivered in a digital-hybrid format since 2016. GISC promotes understanding of Islamic cultures and Muslim societies worldwide by supporting research and instruction and building partnerships. If you're interested in the work we do, please reach out to us! We're here to serve our community.

Our consortium newsletter conveniently consolidates in one place updates about talks, movies, conferences, workshops, classes and more, from all three centers and in conjunction with our partners at U-M and in the Detroit Metro area.

We've got a lively lineup this semester, and we look forward to seeing you at our events!
