About
Maya Zreik is pursuing a Masters in International and Regional Studies with a specialization in Middle East and North African studies. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2020 with a dual BA in international studies and biopsychology, cognition, and neuroscience. Her research interests focus on the continued effects of colonialism and neocolonialism on the Middle East and the development of identity, nationhood, and modes of resistance. She has interned with the Carnegie Endowment Center for International Peace and the Collateral Repair Project which focuses on refugee resettlement and served as regional editor for the Middle East of the Michigan Journal of International Affairs. She is concurrently pursuing an MA in MIRS and an MPH in Public Health.
