Communications Editor, II Communications
About
I am a communications editor in the International Institute, supporting five of its centers and program—African Studies Center, Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies, Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Center for Southeast Asian Studies, and Global Islamic Studies.
I work with centers' staff and directors in planning different communication strategies to support their activities and events by discussing publication content and distribution, advising on media creation, and assisting in the implementation of U-M's branding.
Much of my work has appeared in the form of various print and digital publications combining appealing compositions and readable content. I also have experience in collaborating with educators in designing instructional materials in informal settings, e.g., promotional course materials, websites, and informational literature.
I completed my MA in Educational Studies in New Media and New Literacies in winter 2019, developing a keen interest in instructional design, allowing me to work and collaborate with educators in creating and presenting ways to learn using various media. As part of my graduation requirements, I worked with a University of Michigan professor in designing Kakuma Youth Opportunities to Lifelong Learning, a website that offers information, resources, and an informal learning environment for the youth completing secondary school in Kakuma Camp in Kenya.
