About
Jessica joined the staff of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies as academic program specialist in October 2020. Previously, she supported the Center for Middle Eastern & North African Studies, the International Institute's IKHLAS Research Initiative, and the Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowship (FLAS) in the Fellowships Office. She is a former FLAS fellow in Thai and Indonesian and holds a dual master's degree in Southeast Asian Studies and Public Policy from the University of Michigan. Her research interests center on the role of civil society organizations in creating social change in Myanmar and Thailand. Her work has specifically focused on issues of Buddhist social activism, trauma studies, human trafficking prevention, and community-based development.
