About
Annabella Jankowski is pursuing a Masters in International and Regional Studies with a specialization in Japanese studies. She graduated from Oakland University with a BA in International Relations and a BA in Japanese Language and Literature in 2022 and attended the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies (IUC) Summer Advanced Language Program in Yokohama, Japan. She has previously worked as an intern for Ikigai Connections and Canon Financial Services, and her research interests include shojo manga (girls' comics), girls’ visual culture, and queer and feminist approaches to Japanese media studies. Her forthcoming master’s thesis investigates the relationship between history and gender in Satonaka Machiko’s 2013 manga adaptation of Kojiki.
