A young foot soldier in the yakuza embarks on a mission to eliminate both his bosses and the sadistic politician responsible for his girlfriend's death. He teams up with a marginalized taxi driver (Yakusho Koji), who has recently returned to Japan after living in South America for several decades and is struggling to cope with the prejudices of native-born Japanese.
