The International Institute offers interdisciplinary graduate degrees, in addition to dual degrees and certificate programs, in various world regions.

Students in our programs are both domestic and international scholars, and are from a variety of personal and intellectual backgrounds. They are exposed to international learning, research, and language study through coursework, graduate seminars and workshops, lectures and on-campus events.

The International Institute provides U-M graduate students with funding opportunities that help support intensive language study, overseas research, and domestic conference travel support.Graduates of our degree programs have gone on to pursue a PhD at U-M and other top universities, while many others have gone on to professional careers within government, non-profit organizations, and the private sector.
