Michael L. Galaty, professor of anthropology and director of the University of Michigan Museum of Anthropological Archaeology, recently released the book Memory and Nation Building: From Ancient Times to the Islamic State (Rowman & Littlefield, 2018). In the book he looks at collective memory and the formation of three modern states: Egypt, Greece, and Albania.
