On Monday, December 6, Dr. Lerna Ekmekcioglu gave a dynamic lecture shedding light on an understudied topic. Ekmekcioglu?s work focused on the Constantinopolitan Armenians? strategies of adjusting to the 1923 establishment of the Turkish Republic and the ensuing Turkification policies. The event, co-sponsored by the Armenian Studies Program and Center for Middle Eastern and North Africa, was well attended by the University community. Dr. Ekmekcioglu is Alex and Marie Manoogian Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Armenian Studies program in the History Department of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
