Conflating Race, Nation, and Religion in Interwar Detroit
Sally Howell is Assistant Professor of History in the Center for Arab American Studies and the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Her books include Citizenship and Crisis: Arab Detroit after 9/11, Arab Detroit 9/11: Life in the Terror Decade, and the forthcoming Old Islam in Detroit: Reconfiguring the Muslim American Past. Her essays have appeared in Anthropological Quarterly, Diaspora, Food and Foodways, the International Journal of Middle East Studies, the UCLA Journal of Islamic and Near Eastern Law, and Visual Anthropology. Howell overseas the Building Islam in Detroit research and exhibition project.
