Arab and Muslim Americans and the U.S. Presidential Election: Uncommitted or Unrequited?

Kalamazoo Room Michigan League Map
Muslim Americans are deeply concerned about the Gaza crisis, for some it is prioritized over other issues. Despite being integrated into American society, they also care about the economy, climate change, healthcare, and immigration. Viewing themselves as part of the global Muslim community, they are affected by the over 40,000 deaths in Gaza, mostly women and children, due to the belief that harm to one part of the "ummah" affects all. This connection, often just one degree removed from individuals in Gaza, complicates their stance in the presidential election.

We will discuss these issues with Dr. Youssef Chouhoud, an Assistant Professor of Political Science affiliated with the Reiff Center for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution at Christopher Newport University.
