Responsibilities:

•   Assist staff in plant administration
•   Help teach English to employees

Compensation: Hourly pay Yen 950 (8 hours & 5 days per week

Accommodation, Transportation:

•   Commuting between company and apartment will be paid by company,
•   Air ticket from US to Japan should be covered by student.
•   Health insurance is available, but 30 % will be covered by student (Recommend student to buy a travel insurance)

Language Requirement: Native level Japanese required.

Funabashi Orthopedic Surgical Hospital - Chiba

Funabashi Orthopedic Surgical Hospital - Chiba

Duration: 8 weeks; June 3 – July 26, 2019. 3 week extension possible.

Desired Qualities:

•   Interest in teaching, research, and science (a strong must)
•   Prior experience in academic research writing (preferred)

Responsibilities:

•   Discussion meetings for guidance and feedback
•   Incorporating technology into lessons
•   Helping doctors edit and revise written work and discuss orthopedic research articles
•   Helping doctors edit and revise presentations
•   Giving suggestions for how to create interesting lectures at universities
•   Observing a team of doctors

Compensation:

This position will offer a work transportation allowance to the intern in the amount of 1,000 JPY per work day.  I will offer to help transport the intern from the airport to their housing location and point them to starting resources to assist with their time in the country.  I will do my best to be available to help take the intern back to the airport on the departure date.  There will also be support provided if the intern wishes to seek a second opportunity in the Kanto area to supplement their summer finances while here.

Assistance will be provided with helping the intern find an affordable  and convenient accommodation conducive to short-term occupancy.  The intern is also welcome to stay with me, provided that they are comfortable with conserving the utilities, locking the door behind themselves, and not invite anyone in without my consent.  If the intern wishes to stay with me, he or she must be advised that I have a very busy schedule during the week that would prevent me from being a really good host in the home.

There will be a closing lunch or dinner for the intern, along with a firm letter of recommendation, building a portfolio, and post-internship support for finding employment inside or outside of Japan.

Language Requirement:

While Japanese would not be required to do the work, I would recommend that the candidate at least become familiar with some basic greetings, commands, questions, and counting in order to survive day-to-day interactions with the local population.

Research Intern

Technology, Data, and Information Management Intern

Responsibilities:

Markets Intern

•   Learn real estate advisory sector and understand occupancy strategies
•   Gain insights into Real Estate sector in Japan
•   Assist team members in providing real estate services to domestic and corporate clients
•   Learn business processes and utilize tools and databases
•   Gain basic understanding of typical services include master planning, occupancy strategies, implementing strategy decisions including lease acquisitions, lease renewal/restructures, lease dispositions or other related services
•   Other duties as required

Research Intern

•   Provide overall support to the Research department and/or other departments
•   Research and write reports, executive summaries, blogs, etc.
•   Assist in various marketing initiatives including but not limited to digital, social, events, campaigns, etc.

Hotels Intern

•   Assist senior colleagues on hotel feasibility study, valuation, and brokerage
•   Attend property inspections and field trips (depending on project)
•   Work on spreadsheet to prepare market data analysis and cash flow projections
•   Writing up sections in an advisory report

Project and Development Service Intern:

•   The student will gain working experience through the various of projects under the supervision of the Group Leader. He/She will have a small workshop with Head of Ops or Learning and Development Champions to discuss on the objectives and learn about how we work as Project Manager. His/Her role in the internship will include, but is not limited to, the following activities:

○  Provides administrative support to PM or other project team member/s, typically non-tertiary educated or recently tertiary qualified and in first role after college.
○  Duties may include attend project/site meeting/visit, document management, procurement support, data input, secretarial etc.
○  Operation Support (Tech/Tools/Manuals/Documents)
○  Enjoy and Have fun!!!

Technology, Data, and Information Management Intern

•   Provide overall support to the Technology, Data and Information Management department
•   Assist on various projects including but not limited to:

○  Data analytics, visualization, input, consolidation, extraction, maintenance, etc.
○  Geography Information System (GIS) and location intelligence
○  Exploratory research on blockchain, IoT, AI, and its applicability to real estate

Kiuchi Brewery - Naka Ibaraki Prefecture

Kiuchi Brewery - Naka City

Duration:

6–8 weeks, between early May and late August (May and June are the cooler months. July and August are good for beach events and local festivals but it gets very hot.)

Position Title: Assistant Brewery Worker

Desired Qualities:

Most employees here start from scratch without any specific qualifications related to the beer industry, therefore all we desire is for the interns to be hard working, responsible and be adaptable to many roles. And of course have an interest in beer.

Number of Positions: 2. Applicants MUST be over 20 years old.

Responsibilities:

The primary job of the brewery worker is to assist where support is needed. This will cover many areas including keg filling, bottling, canning, packaging, fermentation, beer transfers, tank cleaning, analysis, and brewing.

In past experience, the intern mainly rotated between tank cleaning and keg filling, then had a day of analysis and brewing. There was also the occasional help in packaging.

Compensation:

Interns will receive meal and transportation support in the amount of 5000JPY per day. Payday is the last day of each month and the last day of the internship.

PLEASE NOTE: Interns are expected to arrive with enough cash to support themselves until their first payment – advance payments from the company will not be possible

Private bedrooms will be provided free of charge in company housing (shared kitchen, living room, bathroom etc)

Language Requirement:

None required, but since most staff members are local Japanese, a basic understanding of Japanese will help.

Kyoto College of Arts & Crafts - Kyoto

Kyoto Arts & Crafts University - Kyoto

Duration: Early May – Late June (4 days/week)

Position Title: English Teaching Assistant

Desired Qualities:

•   An interest in English language education is desired
•   An interest in art and/or architecture would be welcome

Responsibilities:

•   Assisting regular English conversation classes (4 days / week, 1-3 classes / day)
•   Holding unofficial English conversation sessions in small groups (30 minutes / session, 1-2 sessions / day)
•   Joining some art-related classes and work with Japanese students

Position Titles: Education Intern, Accommodations Intern, Kitchen Intern

Desired Professional Skills/Specialties:

An interest/background in art, education, environmental sustainability, agriculture, and community building.

Number of Positions: 6

Responsibilities:

•   Education Intern – assist with programming
•   Group leader for various activities with kids
•   Sub-guide for visitor activities
•   Facilitate meals and housing (i.e. make sure the kids eat and go to bed)
•   Translator when necessary (not required)
•   Accommodations Intern – maintain facilities
•   Maintain cleanliness of housing areas
•   Run the wood-burning furnaces to heat water
•   Prepare the outdoor baths
•   Office work
•   Kitchen Intern – assist in kitchen
•   Wash dishes
•   Meal prep work/ basic cooking
•   Arrange/set the table(s) [you get to eat a lot]

All Interns:

•   Assisting education team in various activities such as meeting with local fishermen and making homemade chopsticks
•   Assisting cooking team by doing dishes and chopping wood
•   Assisting accommodations team by cleaning the facilities and doing administrative work
•   Taking care of the animals (pigs, goats, chickens)
•   Interacting with the guests to promote not only sustainability and environmentalism, but also a safe and accepting diverse space

Duration:

From May 1 for 6~8 weeks (negotiable). We are open to receiving students at any time throughout the year.

Position Title: Software Engineer, UX Designer

Desired Qualities:

Software Engineer: Self-driven young engineer with knowledge in PHP and/or Ruby on Rails.

UX Designer: Basic UX design skills and knowledges including:
- User research
- Qualitative/quantitative data analysis
- Mapping and modeling user experience, user journey, etc.
- Generate ideas with team members collaboratively
- Prioritizing users’ tasks with teams
- Visualize ideas with wireframes
- Prototyping product for testing
- Usability testing

Priority give to students with one of these skill sets below.
- Visual design skill using Adobe CS or Sketch
- Basic coding skill and experience with HTML/CSS/JS
- Basic programming skills and experience (rails/Java/PHP/Swift/etc.)
- Quick doodle drawing on whiteboard

Responsibilities:

The type of project will depend on when and how long the student will be with us – the student can expect to join on-going projects and work side-by-side with regular Raksul employees.

Language Requirement:

Japanese is required. All meetings and documents are in Japanese, so the student should have at least business level Japanese to be able to function. Speaking is more important than reading & writing. An estimate level will be JLPT N2 (Japanese Language Proficiency Test level 2).

Roland DG is a Japanese manufacturer of large format and 3D printing technologies located in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.  

Position Titles: Marketing Intern, IT Intern

Duration: 1 month (minimum). Any time between May 2018 and August 2018.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate marketing communication and branding activities such as open houses, digital marketing, tradeshows, creatives, etc. Details will be discussed during interview.

Compensation: Accommodations and meal support possible. Details will be discussed during interview.

Language Requirement: Japanese and/or Chinese desirable but not required.
