Marsae Lynette Mitchell is currently pursuing her MFA in dance at the U-M School of Music, Theater & Dance. She received one of the language scholarship awards for her Yoruba language studies.

Her research on the Yoruba religion, rituals, rhythms, and movement that are thriving in the Caribbean and Americas as a result of the transatlantic slave trade, is a big motivation behind her Yoruba language studies. Mitchell plans on furthering her involvement by expanding her studies to the Gold Coast and the Caribbean.
