Non-Candidate for Degree
The Center for Japanese Studies offers limited opportunity to take a limited number of graduate level courses on Japan as a non-degree student. You must apply and be admitted to the Center as a Non-Candidate for Degree (NCFD) student. NCFD is generally limited to one term only. In special circumstances, NCFD status may be extended to a second term with Center approval.
If you are interested in taking graduate courses as a Non-Candidate for Degree student, please contact the Student Services Coordinator at cjsadmissions@umich.edu to discuss your circumstances and to receive an application.
Non-Candidate for Degree students are not eligible for funding from the Center for Japanese Studies.
