  • Oni Exchange Museum - (Kyoto Prefecture) dedicated to the Japanese Oni (demon figure).
  • Woodblock Prints - (Matsumoto city), this museum has an online collection of Ukiyo-e woodblock prints.
  • Asian Art at the Smithsonian Institution - (Washington, D.C.) Freer Gallery of Art and the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery at the Smithsonian.
  • Morikami Museum - (Delray Beach, Florida) Japanese style gardens, nature trails, sparkling lakes and ponds teeming with koi carp and turtles, waterfalls, and a collection of rare bonsai miniature trees.

  • The International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) produces an online version of its academic newsletter that addresses issues related to Japan.

  • Digital Asia Library - The Digital Asia Library provides a searchable catalog through which researchers, educators, and students have quick and easy access to high quality Web resources originating in Asia selected and cataloged by area library specialists. The catalog includes freely available Web resources for research and study of modern East, South, and Southeast Asia on a broad range of topics in the social sciences.
  • East Asian History Sourcebook - A comprehensive collection of links and documents to aid scholars interested in East Asian (most of the resources relate to Japan or China).
  • Foreign Press Center Japan - A private, non-profit foundation that supports the foreign press in Japan.
  • Industrial Bank of Japan Research and Links - Research on and links to English language resources on Japanese finance, economy, politics and law. Be aware this is a corporate site.
  • International University of Japan - This site offers general advice of interest for travel in Japan.
  • Japan Business Center - A business-related source with a number of features including a newsletter, advice column, and all sorts of information on setting up a business in Japan.
  • Japan Center for Asian Historical Records - The Japan Center for Asian Historical Records (JACAR), an institution of the National Archives of Japan, has the mission of providing people all over the world with the access through the Internet to materials from collections kept by various ministries and agencies of the Japanese Government on the modern history of relations between Japan and various other countries, primarily neighboring Asian countries
  • Japanese Information on Books - This service allows you to search for Japanese books in print using romaji (Latin alphabet) as input. The search results are displayed with image files, so you do not need a Japanese font installed on your computer.
  • Japan Financials - Administered by Eagle Enterprises, Ltd. supplies translations & originals of official financial statements for all Tokyo Stock Exchange and major OTC firms. This information can, they claim be downloaded directly into Excel.
  • Japan Information Network - This site provides a multitude of information on Japan, including trends, history, geography, and much more.
  • JapanMap - This site provides maps of Japan and some of the train lines (mostly in Japanese).
  • Japan National Tourist Organization - All about Japan, the Japanese, travel, Tokyo, Kyoto, holidays, hotels and much more.
  • Japanese Studies Research Resources - A collection of research tools and bibliography at Duke University.
  • The Japanese Text Initiative - Part of the online library of the Electronic Text Center Library, University of Virginia. Has as its goal to put online all texts in Thomas Rimer's Reader's Guide to Japanese Literature, as well as other important titles from classical Japanese literature. Currently includes the Kokinshu, Ise Monogatari, Hojoki Noh plays, Sarashin Nikki, the Manyoushu, works by Saikaku, Basho and many others. Can be searched in Japanese or English.
  • J-Guide to Japan - The J-Guide to Japan is a topically arranged directory of Internet-based Japan information resources. History, culture, education, health and medicine, and other topics are featured.
  • JPOLL - The Japan Public Opinion Location Library. Contains a searchable archive of public opinion data from Japan.
  • Kinema Club - A resource on Japanese film.
  • Okinawa Prefecture Homepage - Homepage of Okinawa Prefecture.
  • Online Bibliography of Asian Studies - Referencing western-language monographs, articles and book chapters on all parts of Asia. Only those with a U of M network connection are granted access to use this resource
