Japan Kit
s
The Japan Kits are a collection of materials to explore aspects of culture and life in Japan. Based on educator input, the Japan Kits have been revised to focus on four broad themes: Customs & Traditions; Contemporary & Popular Culture; Nature, Food & Society; and, Folk Tales, Myths, & Cross-cultural Experiences.
The Japan Kits are free to use. The Center for Japanese Studies pays the one-way shipping cost; the user agrees to pay a $50 damage/replacement deposit (refundable) for each kit prior to loan, and to pay the return shipping fee. Remit checks to "The University of Michigan." There is a maximum of 21 days from postdate sent to postdate returned. Reserve a Japan Kit with CJS by calling 734.764.6307, e-mailing Heather Littlefield at hclittle@umich.edu, or by printing the Reservation form and faxing it to 734.936.2948.
Other Materials
The Center for Japanese Studies also has additional print materials, CDs, and DVDs that may be useful for K-14 audiences. In response to the various needs of educators and parents, individuals may also create a "custom kit" from these available items, following the same procedures as outlined above.
