2024 BTAA Korean Studies e-School Summer Study Abroad Scholarship

The deadline to submit applications is Monday, April 1, 2024, 10:00PM (ET).

The BTAA Korean Studies e-School, with the generous support of the Korea Foundation, offers competitive scholarships to students enrolled in e-School courses to attend the Yonsei International Summer School in Korea from June 27, 2024 to August 6, 2024. This fellowship supports students seeking to enhance their proficiency in Korean language and/or develop a deeper understanding of Korean history, society, and culture.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to undergraduate students taking BTAA Korean e-School courses in the academic year 2023-2024. Graduating students in their senior year are not eligible for this scholarship. Selected students will receive financial support for summer study abroad at the Yonsei International Summer School in Korea. This scholarship will cover the following:

  • Tuition
  • Dormitory charges
  • Application fees

Scholarship Requirements

The scholarship must be used for attending the Yonsei International Summer School in Korea. Students must enroll for 3 courses (9 credits), with a minimum of one course in either Korean Language or Korean Studies.

Required Application Materials

Applicants will need to fill out an online application form and provide a statement of purpose, resume, the contact information for a letter of recommendation and transcripts. Details for submission requirements for each item are available on the online application portal.

To Apply

  1. Go to the International Institute Fellowships & Grants online portal
  2. Non-UM students only: Use the Create U-M Friend Account button on the top left to create a U-M Friend Account. (Current U-M students go to the next step.) Please use your university email address. Once you have your U-M Friend Account ID and password, go back to the link in step 1, then proceed to step 3.
  3. Use the U-M Login button on the top right and login with your newly created U-M Friend Account ID and password (U-M students use your uniqname and kerberos password).
  4. To start an application, use the green View programs button to see the list of award applications available on this portal, and look for the NCKS BTAA e-School Summer in Korea Scholarship. Click on MORE> for scholarship details.
  5. Use the Apply button to start an application.
    Applications do not need to be completed in a single sitting. When you return to the portal, you will see links to all of your current applications on your portal Home page.
