Research/Teaching Specialization: Historical sociology. Her research at U-M will focus on Chinese migration to Siberia and the Far East in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Her host advisor is Barbara Anderson, professor of sociology. Ms. Kovalskaya is a recipient of a Carnegie Research Fellowship awarded by the National Council for Eurasian and East European Research (Fall 2007).
