12:00 AM
Room 1636, School of Social Work Bldg.

Benshi Kataoka Ichiro has a residency at UM through the Center for World Performance Studies, and will be performing for the entire CJS Fall Film Series. On September 13, Kataoka will sit down with UM's Japanese cinema scholar, Markus Nornes, to talk about the history and art of narrating silent films. This is a precious opportunity for audience members to talk to a practicing benshi.

About the Speakers:
Abé Markus Nornes (Professor, Asian Languages & Cultures/Screen Arts & Cultures/School of Art & Design; Chair, Screen Arts & Cultures).
Ichiro Kataoka (Professional Benshi).
