The December 2012 administration of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test was successfully completed with approximately 300 examinees completing the exam in Ann Arbor.  The Center for Japanese Studies would like to thank the many volunteers and proctors that made this test possible.

The next administration of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in the United States is December 2013.  This page contains test site-specific information about the Japanese Language Proficiency Test given in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Details will be updated as they become available.

Test scores for the December 2012 administration will be available in late February 2013.

Test Date and Time

Test Date

Test date for 2013 is Sunday, December 1.  Please note that this is last day of the Thanksgiving weekend.  Because JLPT is administered worldwide on the same day, it will be administered as scheduled and cannot be moved to another day because of the US holiday weekend.

JLPT is administered annually on the first Sunday in December.  The July administration of JLPT is NOT given in the United States.

Time

JLPT begins promptly at 1pm.  Examinees are requested to arrive at 12:30pm for check-in.

Depending on the level, JLPT takes two hours to three and a half hours, including breaks between sections.

Detailed test schedule will be sent to each examinee with the registration voucher.

Registration Procedure and Registration Fee

Test registration for the December 2013 test is anticipated to open in early September 2013.  Registration for all test sites in the United States is handled by the Japan Foundation Los Angeles office.  Both online registration and registration by mail will be available.  A link to the registration web site will be placed here when it becomes available.

All examinees must be PRE-REGISTERED for the desired level of the test.  Test level CANNOT be changed once registration closes.  There is NO LATE registration and NO ON-SITE registration.

Location

Test will be given in the Mason Hall classrooms on the Ann Arbor Central Campus.  Exact room assignments will be mailed with your Test Admission Voucher in November.

Maps and Directions

Detailed directions to the test site will be sent with your Admission Voucher.  Please note that due to a University Musical Society performance at Hill Auditorium, university parking structures on Thayer Street and Fletcher Street will require event parking fee of $5.
