International Perspectives on Human Rights
The Center for International and Comparative Studies (CICS) and the Institute for the Humanities together sponsor a human rights initiative - International Perspectives on Human Rights. The initiative has several components including the Rackham Interdisciplinary Seminar on Human Rights, a popular human rights lecture series featuring prominent human rights practitioners and scholars.
The website, International Perspectives on Human Rights, serves as a source of information pertaining to human rights work at Michigan. It provides a directory of faculty engaged in human rights work, a listing of related courses, and a calendar of events, among other resources.
A key component of the Human Rights Initiative is the annual appointment of a Human Rights Fellow and the new addition of an International Development and Security Fellow. The appointment of these fellows is intended to create a sustainable curricular structure that draws upon the wide range of resources at Michigan. Both fellows offer undergraduate courses for students in the international studies minor, and deliver annual human rights and international development and security lectures which are open to the public.
