NEWS FROM THE PRESIDENCY

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union is rotated amongst the EU member states and changes every six months. France holds presidency from July 1 to December 31, 2008.The Czech Republic will hold presidency from January 1 to June 30, 2009.

Cultural Capitals of Europe 2008: Liverpool, UK  and Stavanger, Norway
The Cultural Capitals of Europe were created by the Minister of Culture of the European Community.
Athens became the first Cultural Capital of Europe in 1985. The event was conceived in order to help bring together different cultures.
