Outreach
In today's interconnected world, cultures challenge us to make connections. Through the Center for Chinese Studies' resources, educator events, and public programs, teachers and students can explore ways to embrace international understanding, particularly in Asia-related learning. As China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong take on increasingly important roles in trade, economy, and security in the U.S. and the world, U.S. classrooms will find a growing need to also focus on China's language,
music and art, history and philosophy. Moreover, 12-million Americans of Asian descent are among the largest demographic groups in the United States, significantly shaping the culture of America now as in the past 150 years. China thus stands out as a major "growth area" in not only the global economy but also within national borders, an essential component of America's multi-cultural heritage.
