National Resource Center


The Center for Chinese Studies is one of six National Resource Centers housed in the International Institute. This prestigious designation, earned in national peer-reviewed competition, is awarded by the U.S. Department of Education Title VI program. This program strives to develop the nation’s capacities in international studies, area studies, foreign languages, and international business education.

Five International Institute centers have also received grants for Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships. These centers administer annual competitions to award graduate-level academic year and summer FLAS Fellowships to support the study of foreign languages and build competencies related to their respective world regions.
