Guinea Bissau
Guinea Bissau received independence in 1974 from Portugal, and Portuguese is its official language. It has a total area of 36,125 sq km, which makes it slightly less than three times the size of Connecticut. It has two seasons: a monsoonal type rainy season, which takes place from June to November, as well as a dry season, lasting from December to May. Its natural resources include fish, timber, phosphates, bauxite, clay, granite, limestone, and unexploited deposits of petroleum.
