Fullbright Visiting Scholar
Roland Kouassi is an Associate Professor of Linguistics at University of Cocody in Cote d’lvoire where he received his Ph.D. in 2003. His interests include discourse and interaction analysis, linguistic anthropology, and identity construction. While at U-M, he will explore the most relevant methods to account for the nexus between local languages and national identity construction in Cote d’lvoire. He will analyze data collected from the National Identity Anchors in Ivorian local language discourses. Professor Kouassi is working with Professor Judith Irvine in the Department of Anthropology during his nine-month stay.
